Despite the largely increased urbanization and modernization, India is predominantly a rural country. More than 72% of the Indian population living in rural areas and more than 60% of the workforce in India is dependent on agriculture and animal husbandry. Out of the larger folks of the farmers, one out of two farmers is associated with the dairy industry.
The dairy industry holds a major role in strengthening the rural economy of India. It can be considered as the primary component of the socio-economic reforms for the country. There is no doubt that agriculture and dairy farming are interdependent and complementary to each other. With better agriculture, the animals get better fodder and diet and the reverse is same for the agriculture as well.
